Carinity provide accommodation centres for youth to provide a safe haven for young people who may have experienced abuse and neglect, are considered to be at risk and disengaged from the community. The facility operates 24/7; and the young residents are expected to participate in school, training and/or work as well as their share of the household chores. Referrals for accommodation at Carinity Youth – On Track are made via the Department of Communities.
Previously staff completed paper based shift reports, case notes, intake and medication management. Carinity wanted an efficient way to “log” and have available in real-time case notes and information. They also wanted to capture behavioural data and make that available to external stakeholders and service providers.
HCL’s solution needed to address the following and implemented for Carinity with the following:
• A user friendly interface with minimal training requirements to get carers using the system from day one. Also the data entry was to be a “once only”
• Automatic e-mail notification function for incidents, medication alerts and doctor’s appointments
• Track behaviours and outcomes measurement against care plan goals.
• Satisfy internal, audit and compliance requirements
